preparing the exterior 02

After the epoxy-silica-woodflour has set, I then very carefully sand the hull seams to get a truly rounded shapely shape, and keep the sanding of the actual panels to an absolute minimum using a fine grade of sandpaper. This procedure is done wearing kid gloves (well, vinyl actually!) as what you see is what you get under a clear varnish finish, which can be brutal in its honesty about the builders work. A word about the TyVek suit, I am wary of sanding partially cured epoxy without wearing safety clothing and a respirator, as the material is a known sensitiser. During sanding, all the surfaces in the workshop are wiped down constantly with microfibre cloths, which are repeatedly taken outside to be beaten free of the dust. What is not ingested cannot harm you.
