Here you can see that the sheer clamp is held in place by small tabs of wood under the 'F' clamps at regular intervals. These wooden tabs spread the loading pressure equally along the entire length of the panel, ensuring a truly symetrical shape to the side panels during what we call 'fairing' or the shaping of the hull later on in the build.
